I haven’t been on here in a while. I have been so busy with painting, editing photos, wedding receptions, date nights, and just life! I have been spending a lot of time with my hubby and the kids. Spring came and it has just been such a fun family time for us! We have been out to the beach, my brother in law bought a boat and so it has been tubing and sunbathing! ha ha Not to mention we had Mother’s Day and well….my eating healthy hasn’t been so healthy with as much as we have been eating out! ha ha
Anyways today I finished a painting I painted for a friend of mine. It is only my third time to try to paint “people”. My first two were for a friend of mine too. One came out I thought great for my first attempt. The next one I was not too excited about and plan on trying again with something fresh. I watched a video of someone doing under-painting while painting an oil painting and something just clicked in my head. I had to try it!
I am just thrilled over this painting. I think it also helps that I spent time around this kiddo. It is not an exact match, but I tried to get it as close as I could. It is a mixed media painting. I used everything ha ha ha. Lets see I used acrylic, graphite, pastels, gesso, ink pens, and a few prayers. (wink)
This piece is super special to me because not only was he was a great kid, one of my son’s best friends, but also because well, he passed away a couple of months back. And he is so missed! It was really a hard time for the whole community. His family have been so amazing. And through it all they have reached out to the kids in the community loving on them while they grieve as well. His mama keeps saying a saying….she says “Love Louder!” Her and her husband even went and bought bracelets and they along with their sweet daughter hand them out to everyone. I have seen such strength in them. They of course give it all to God that they are able to walk through this with their head held up the way they have.
Everyone has different ways to love on people. This family has given out bracelets to keep reminding people to be loving. It seems like small gestures, but I tell you it is HUGE when someone who is going through so much gives to you. I was so extremely touched by their simple gifts of love. I wanted to give back in some way. And this is the way I know how to “Love Louder”! I believe “Art Heals”. And even though I know they have been so strong and such awesome people through all this, I just want to bless them too.
So I want to ask that if you are reading this that you would lift this family up in prayers. And take time to do small acts of kindness to people around you. Love them Louder. You just don’t know who really might be needing it.
Well so let me tell you a bit more about this painting. I saw a picture of him dressed up as a Mime. This so represented just everything about this kid to me. He was such a hoot, yet could be so dry in his humor. He was very loving, and he hugged everyone. It is the most missed thing about him I believe well that and how he bounced when he walked. (wink) He loved movies, he dressed in costumes even when it wasn’t Halloween. He went dressed up to midnight plays and shows with his mom. Comicpalooza was a love of his as well! He was just a hoot! So the picture to me just pegged his character all the way to the serious look.
We miss you kid!
I hope you guys are having a great week! We are almost through it. Come on Friday! (wink)
And remember to LOVE LOUDER!!!
